Is the Bible Really Reliable?

Pastor Kent Keller  ·  2 Peter 1:16-18  ·  Sunday, May 31, 2026

Can a 2,000-year-old book really stand up to modern scrutiny — or is the Bible just a collection of "cleverly devised myths"? Pastor Kent Keller takes on one of the hardest questions skeptics and Christians wrestle with: is the Bible actually reliable? From 2 Peter 1:16-18, he walks through the manuscript evidence, the eyewitness testimony of Peter and John, and the call to actually open the book in a culture where 68% of Americans read the Bible less than once a year.

📈 Sermon Views — YouTube & Subsplash (recent Sundays)

Per-sermon lifetime views by Sunday across all five surfaces — each point is one sermon (date · speaker). YouTube = views; Subsplash = plays. Lifetime totals, not weekly deltas. The gold band (0–50) is shown at 2× vertical scale so the low-volume surfaces have room for detail; above the dotted line the scale returns to normal (1:1).

† May 31 = live viewing only (newest sermon; on-demand views still accruing).

What Worked / What to Watch

📈 What worked

🟢 Field Devotion blogs kept compounding. James's Passover and the Blood of Jesus (5/21) carried engagement into the analytics window — long blog dwell time, sustained Mailchimp opens, slower FB-share decay than standard. See Pulse.

🟢 🇪🇸 Spanish YouTube — first clean week. With the 5/17 Unlisted mistake corrected, 5/24 was the first sermon week the Spanish cut went live Public on publish day. Pulse card shows whether the corrected lever actually moves Spanish reach.

🤔 What to watch

🟡 📖 Three blogs in seven days — concentrates or dilutes? New territory. Watch next Monday's per-post reads + Mailchimp opens to see if the audience absorbs all three or splits attention.

🟡 📖 Kent approval gates the Thursday cluster. Sermon blog draft is finished; EN YouTube description and per-sermon page already reference the 6/04 URL. Wed-AM nudge recommended if approval hasn't landed.

Note from Jeff

This is the densest pastoral-content week we've had since Easter — Sunday Field Devotion, Wednesday Field Devotion, Thursday sermon companion. New leader resource at `grupos.christchurchmiami.org` lists every Spanish Bible study in one bookmarkable place — please share it with anyone leading a Spanish small group. If you see Kent Tuesday, a friendly nudge on the sermon blog helps Thursday ship clean. — Jeff
